For more than four decades, Woodmeister has built exceptional custom homes, distinguished by our craftsmanship and deep expertise in architectural millwork.

Founded by Ted and Kim Goodnow and now led by their daughter Heather Goodnow, the family-owned firm has grown to become an industry leader in residential construction and renovation. We bring the skills, experience, and vision to create luxury residences of exceptional quality and beauty from the ground up.

Our multidisciplinary team combines construction, millwork, and a broad range of capabilities under one roof for a fully integrated process, delivering exceptional service and quality from vision to execution. We are problem-solvers who thrive on challenges, orchestrating scale and complex construction projects, even in far-flung locations. And true to our origins, our in-house millwork division is renowned for meticulous craftsmanship that is second to none.

The ultimate value of a comprehensive building experience is full accountability from start to finish. Every step of the project is seamlessly coordinated and rigorously managed, and before the final reveal, our ownership team personally performs a “white glove” quality inspection. Whether focusing on new construction or residential renovations, we collaborate closely with designers, architects, and homeowners to turn bold ideas into connected, welcoming spaces built for modern living.

About the founders

In 1980, Ted and Kim Goodnow opened a cabinet and furniture-making shop near their hometown in Massachusetts. Their primary focus was building one-of-a-kind pieces crafted from exotic woods and constructing spaces that feature meticulously fabricated architectural millwork. They named the growing company “Woodmeister,” a tribute to the art of fine woodworking and their unwavering passion for exquisite craftsmanship. Clients and industry partners loved the experience of working with the small, energetic team, which quickly became renowned for its high-quality product and meticulous attention to detail.

As the firm’s reputation grew, so did the demand to take on larger-scope projects – from rooms to entire homes – and a full-service construction company was born. Since then, Woodmeister has built an enviable portfolio of projects and a family of loyal clients nationwide. The company has collaborated with renowned architects and design teams to build exceptional homes for the most discerning clients.

Ted sadly passed in 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer, and today his daughter Heather Goodnow leads the company as President and CEO. Heather has worked across all departments and disciplines under her father’s mentorship. With her invaluable experience, insight, and a fresh perspective, Heather is proud to build on her parents’ legacy as Woodmeister grows its reputation for excellence and innovation.

“There’s work, and then there’s life’s work.

Woodmeister was founded with the belief that if you build something meaningful—something that reflects your values and brings you joy—it becomes more than a job. It becomes your life’s work, and that’s a legacy worth building.”
