We are currently seeking an accomplished Shipping and Delivery to join our team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a flexible, motivated professional to join the Millwork Shop Team.

Position Definition: Prepares finished millwork for shipping, loads trucks, delivers materials to job sites and coordinates unloading, ensuring product quality. Supports the shop when needed, performs routine maintenance around the building, keeps track of inventory, assists receiving, delivers and picks up material as needed. Valid driving license and clean driving record required.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares completed cabinets, doors, millwork and other materials for shipping. Wraps product in protective blankets, pads corners, etc.
  • Following the production schedule, loads truck in preparation for delivery, ensuring everything is packed appropriately to avoid damage.
  • Drives truck to job sites, coordinates unloading and works with Site Supervisor to store materials appropriately.
  • Maintains required DOT documentation including mileage log.
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with relevant DOT requirements for over the road drivers.
  • Coordinate drop-off and pickup of shop and field tools being repaired..
  • Package and ship items necessary via UPS, FEDEX, Common Carrier etc. and maintain records.
  • Monitor inventory level to insure proper internal supply relating to hardware storage, shop supplies, etc.
  • Log receipts on the daily receiving log and give to Purchasing for Receipt of Goods entry in the system.
  • Ensure material received for a specific job is clearly marked with the job name and quantity and stored in its designated location.
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • While performing regular duties, looks for and identifies areas of the building that need repair and reports issues needing attention to management
  • Performs minor repair of buildings and equipment. Works with supervisor to coordinate the work of subcontractors, keeps track of issues needing attention, follows up to ensure completion on all needed repairs.
  • Performs preventative maintenance work on production equipment, including regular cleaning.
  • Inspects dust collector daily, cleans when needed and coordinates changing of dust dumpster.
  • Assists with maintaining security of property.
  • Coordinates and maintains recycling program.
  • Uses a computer to check email, report time and document building maintenance activities.
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures, performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Must pass random DOT drug screens.
  • Able to safely operate truck, plan routes and navigate city traffic including Boston and Manhattan.
  • Ability to take direction, plan and prioritize own time for maximum efficiency.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to follow verbal and written instructions and represent the company professionally.
  • General maintenance skills including, cleaning, painting and mechanical.

· Able to plan and execute minor projects, paying attention to detail.

  • Ability to think proactively.

Physical Abilities

· Adequate vision to drive, read and understand written materials, work with attention to detail.

· Ability to communicate in person, using telephone, e-mail, etc.

· Mental ability to plan, manage, execute.

  • Able to climb stairs and ladders, lift, carry, transport materials weighing less than 50 lbs.
  • Able to drive a forklift truck and regular vehicles, work with computer

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a warehouse or wood shop environment
  • Machine maintenance experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Must pass random DOT drug screens.
  • Able to safely operate truck, plan routes and navigate city traffic including Boston and Manhattan.
